At Heartland Bank we believe that when a community thrives, its people prosper. We're excited to highlight Brent Voss, a shining example of community banking in action. A Commercial Banker at our Grove City office, he is sharing what Community Banking means to him.
What does it mean to you to be a Heartland Community banker?
It means being able to help the community and neighborhood I live and work in grow and become stronger through sharing my financial expertise.
How do you help your customers and community thrive through your role?
I advocate for my customers while also educating them. It is crucial to me that my customers understand their financial position and know what next steps they should take. By explaining the why, they understand how they can take action and we are able to work together towards their goals. Knowledge is power!
Provide an example of a time you were proud to see your work make an impact?
I recently helped a church that was looking to purchase a building instead of leasing their current space. I had the opportunity to spend time educating the board members of the church about their options, their financial position, and the cost involved with remodeling a property. I found that rather than specifics on rates and product details, it was my personalized expertise that made the difference for the board of volunteers. I appreciated the opportunity to make them feel comfortable in their decision to purchase a commercial property. The church now has a building they can call their own and sufficient funds to meet the needs of the church for years to come, strengthening the community as a result.
