Heartland Bank’s roots trace back to the small farming community of Croton, Ohio, where it began as the Croton Bank. Local farmers, dedicated to cultivating their land and strengthening their community, built a bank that prioritized relationships and trust.

In 1988, Tiney M. McComb carried this legacy forward by forming Heartland BancCorp, renaming the institution Heartland Bank, and driving its growth with a focus on integrity, personalized service, and community empowerment. Today, we honor these roots by delivering innovative financial solutions and staying true to our founder’s promise of helping people and businesses thrive.

On February 1, 2025, Heartland Bank joined German American Bank, combining two strong, relationship-driven organizations united by shared values and a mission to help the communities we serve thrive so people can prosper. As a division of German American Bank, we gain the strength and scale to serve the most sophisticated financial needs while remaining small enough to ensure that decisions are made locally, with a personal approach and great attention to detail.
