Safeguard your accounts against fraud and actively manage your money and check card usage with the Heartland Bank, a division of German American Bank Card Control app. It's the free mobile app that turns your smartphone into an on/off switch for your check card.* Set limits and gain greater control of when, where and how your check card can be used with Card Control. 

Turning your Heartland Bank, a division of German American Bank Check Card "ON" and "OFF" helps safeguard against fraud. You'll also receive fraud alerts, so you can take action as soon as potential fraud hits your card. Here's how it works:

• OFF. When your card is “OFF,” no withdrawals or purchases will be approved, except for scheduled recurring transactions.
• ON. When your card is “ON,” only transactions within your specified preferences will be processed.
• Fraud Alerts. Receive and respond to notifications through the Card Control app as soon as potential fraud hits your card.
• Transaction Controls. This added layer of protection allows your check card to work only in specific locations or geographic areas.
• Real-time Alerts. Notify you when your card is used or declined.

If you’re trying to set or stick to a budget, with Card Control you can:

• Establish spending limits for general use or specific thresholds by merchant types, such as gas or groceries, or by geographic location, such as specific cities.
• Change these parameters anytime with your mobile device. Going on vacation? Holiday shopping? Simply update your transaction controls to fit your spending needs.
• Check account balances in real time and set low balance alerts. Use the "View Account Balances" button conveniently located below each card in your app or just tap the card you want to view.
