Nice to Meet You, Adecia Stover!

Following the Great Resignation of 2022, many companies looked forward to the Big Stay. Heartland has inherently supported associates that stay the course and often move to positions that suit them best. Adecia Stover has chosen to commit to the team, and credits culture and the comfort of knowing she can count on a spot here at Heartland even through uncertain times like Covid – “I am forever grateful for Heartland and will always remain a big fan!”

Culture is Key

“What separates Heartland from other banks is our culture, and that we all share the same passion for relationships! We want to get to know you by your first and last name; we want to know your business, your major events coming up and what your hobbies and likes are. We want to know you, and how we can help you! At Heartland, we treat you with care like we would family, and it is such a refreshing experience coming from a bank,” shared Adecia, Assistant Branch Manager at Heartland’s Dublin branch.

Associate commitment, retention and dedication are classic pillars that most successful organizations strive to nurture and protect. With promotion and training, Heartland works daily to empower its staff and encourage long-term career paths. “I started out as a Retail Support Client Service Representative (CSR) for all branches. Then, I found a permanent position at the Westerville branch as a CSR, was eventually promoted to a Universal Banker (UB), then transferred to Hilliard and was promoted to lead UB. Not long after, I was promoted to Assistant Manager (AM) and transferred to Dublin,” said Adecia as she described her Heartland journey.

“I look forward to continuing to grow with the bank and to eventually becoming a branch manager one day. My heart is in this for the long run!” she said.

It's All in a Day’s Work

In her AM role, Adecia works with clients providing service on their accounts and loans. She manages the day-to-day operations at her branch and also supports her teammates regarding their achievement and performance goals with coaching and check-ins on their progress. She admits that she loves these interactions and tries to convey these positive feelings via her delivery and communications.

According to her District Manager Pete Cushnie, “Adecia is a joy to work with at Heartland Bank. Her unwavering dedication to our company and her team has truly been exceptional. Adecia’s consistent effort and positive attitude inspire those around her, making her an invaluable asset to our organization. Her commitment to excellence, which always includes a big smile and laugh, is evident in everything she does.”

Adecia has learned a lot in the nearly five years since she began her career at Heartland. “It is all about the valuable service you provide and the way you make an individual feel. I make it a point to come in every day with a big smile on my face, a positive attitude and a high expectation to do my job effectively. I like knowing that if one of my clients arrives and is having a bad day, I will at least do what I can to change that while they are in my presence so that they leave our branch feeling a little less down,” added Adecia.

She additionally appreciates being a resource of knowledge for her clients. Questions are always welcomed and encouraged regarding financials, and Adecia looks forward to being an integral part of her clients’ financial futures.

Originally from North Carolina, Adecia has now lived in Central Ohio for five years. Married to her college sweetheart and mother of two sweet kids and one dog, she enjoys being in one place as her childhood involved moving every four to five years as part of the obligations of being in a military family. Volunteering and assisting with Heartland’s “peer-buddy” program that supports new hires are her passions, and she is proud to have completed the Principles of Banking series and to have received the Quality and Excellence award given by her peers at the bank. Adecia added, “And of course I can’t forget about the rapport I have with my Dublin team. Having a great bond with your team is essential to branch performance and a great example for clients. My relationship with the team is just as important to me as the relationships I have with my clients!”

She is devoted to quality time with family and friends. With young children, she simply enjoys watching them grow and become active in their community. Her family watches the Buckeyes, travels to see family and likes to attend events and try new restaurants.
